Sunday morning in Thessaloniki was filled with anticipation as we landed in this vibrant Greek city. Eager to immerse ourselves in its rich history and culture, we decided to begin our adventure in the heart of the old town. With rumbling stomachs and a craving for a caffeine kick, our first goal was to find a cozy spot for breakfast and coffee.
Guided by the trusty Google Maps, we made our way through the charming labyrinth of narrow streets, with their time-worn cobblestones and colorful buildings. The city was slowly awakening, and as we strolled along, we couldn't help but be captivated by the beauty of the grand trees that lined every street. Their lush green canopies provided shade and an enchanting atmosphere, while the gentle chirping of birds added a symphony of nature to the city's awakening rhythm.
Our search led us to a little gem called Koykos, a quaint café tucked away in a corner of the old town. As we stepped inside, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, instantly awakening our senses. The interior exuded a cozy and inviting ambiance, with warm wooden accents and soft lighting creating a perfect sanctuary for a lazy Sunday morning.
We placed our order with excitement, opting for a delectable combination of aromatic coffee, flaky buns, and creamy yogurt. The barista expertly prepared our coffee, crafting a rich and velvety espresso that promised to invigorate our day. As we settled into a comfortable corner, we marveled at the spot where Koykos was nestled. It was nestled amidst historic buildings, their facades displaying the passage of time and the stories they held within their walls.
Savoring our breakfast delights, we felt the city slowly come to life around us. The sound of footsteps echoed on the cobblestones as locals and tourists alike began to venture out, filling the streets with a gentle buzz of activity. The old town, with its winding alleys and hidden squares, seemed to be a world of its own, inviting us to explore its secrets and uncover its hidden treasures.
With our hunger satiated and our spirits lifted, we were ready to embark on our day's adventures. Thessaloniki had already woven its magic on us, revealing its unique charm and promising countless memorable moments. We set off, eager to discover more of its wonders, but forever grateful for the serendipitous encounter with Koykos and the delightful start it had given us on this beautiful Sunday morning in Thessaloniki.
I'm thrilled to leave a glowing 5-star review for KOYKOE bakery! My recent visit was a true delight from start to finish. The moment I stepped in, the cozy atmosphere and tantalizing aromas captured my senses. The real surprise, however, was when the staff went above and beyond by gifting us three complimentary items. It's rare to find such genuine generosity these days. The pastries were a symphony of flavors, showcasing their dedication to quality and craftsmanship. KOYKOE bakery's gesture and their delectable treats have made me an enthusiastic patron. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended!
A firm favourite of mine in Saloniki and the most frequent bakery I have gone to now. Impeccably clean interior and very well presented display shelves. I have been coming here on all of my recent stays in Saloniki. Everything I have tried (sandwiches, pastries and yoghurt - granola pots) is super delicious. Alongside the genuinely warm and friendly Greek customer service, this is a true gem in this vibrant rich culinary city.
Lovely pastries. Nice outdoor space to people watch. Reasonably priced.
Exceptional bakery👍Highly recommended for breakfast or grabbing a snack on the go
Great for quick, well-priced and delicious food. Had coffee to go and savory Greek pastries for breakfast, both were excellent. Staff is friendly too. Limited outdoor seating though.
Best place!
We enjoyed the food, the drinks, the staff!
We've been there 3 days in a row and would go there more times if we would still be in Thessaloniki. Greetings to Kostas!
Small and beautiful pastry and pie self service joint!!
Food is so good it will make your day! Tasty, fresh an highly recommended!
This place really saved me from the early morning cold, hunger and toilet issue. And staffs are really friendly unlike others who smile but never let you use their toilets. …
